First of all...Happy New Year! Wasn't it a fabulous holiday season??? We had a great time!

Now that the holidays have come and gone...we are FINALLY back to a routine around here. Jaxon had to go through detox for a couple of days after spending 15 days with his cousins and his grandparents. (And all of his aunts and uncles, too.) The first morning he was home he said "When are you going to buy the doughnuts?" If that is any indication of the kind of trip we had...I knew SERIOUS melt down was going to occur. When I told him I wasn't going to buy doughnuts, because we NEVER have doughnuts...I think his little world started to crack. Then we had a couple of days of fits and crying...but I am happy to say that my sweet little, reformed sugar addict has returned to me. I am so happy!

Ella detoxed in a different way. Every time I ate something she gave me the look of "HELLO??? Are you going to let me try that???" She too heard that crack that broke her heart. Then of course every time I put her down her little lip began to quiver. She had been adored for 15 days. I don't think her little knees felt the cold floor for the entire 15 days. She was passed around and she loved every single second of it!

It was such a fun vacation, but I am happy to be home. That is so weird to say. For the very first time, when we came home, we felt like THIS was home. There is something to be said for that.
Anyway...here are some pics of our vacation...and our Christmas. :)

PS- Happy 11 months Miss Ella Rose. I can't believe you will be one in 4 very short weeks. You are pure joy. I love you.

Christmas came early...

On Friday the Fed Ex came to the door. As I answered the door, he requested my signature for a small envelope. He said "looks like tickets!" I said "REALLY??" Then he said "uh-oh. I hope I didn't ruin a surprise."

Unfortunately I have one of those brains that puts surprises together WAY too quickly and that was the icing on the cake. I was growing suspicious of my dear hubby all week, he was just way to into my Saturday night.

Well...turns out...he bought me tickets to WICKED!!!! And...he got a babysitter!! So off to LA we went for the greatest show! We went last night...it was heaven. My sweetie is such a sweetie.

We had a great time. It was the BEST show. It was so wonderful! Did I mention that I liked it??

1. Jaxon just asked if his friend, Aaron, would like a juice bag. He said it so politely.
2. Michael Buble is on the radio, singing "It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas." It's gonna be a good afternoon. I love Buble.
3. Ella is sandwiched between Jaxon and Aaron. She does not want to miss ANYTHING.
4. I leave for Albuquerque in 11 days. I cannot wait.
5. My Christmas shopping is NOT done, nor will it be any time soon.
6. I cannot wait to start baking.
7. As of today, I have lost 8 pounds. I have a feeling that when I start baking, that number might change.
8. I miss my Richie. He has been working so much. This new job is bound to kill him. I hope he doesn't die. I really love him.
9. Ella does not fit into her pants. They are too small. The next size is too big. Oh geez.
10. It is 68 degrees. Christmas?? Really??

We had half days all week last week!! So Richie took a half day at work and we decided to something "fall-ie". After a bit of scouring, I finally found a decent pumpin patch!! (Although I just found out that there is a REALLY good one in Redlands...maybe next year.) We headed down to Irvine on Wednesday and checked out Tanaka Farms. We had a lot of fun! We got to go on a hayride, pick pumpkins, run through a corn maze and pet some goats. Jaxon didn't really want to touch the goats, but Ella would have given them a wet kiss if we would have let her! It was a great fall daY!

1. The days are getting a little cooler...by that, of course, I mean it is in the low 80's. It feels a little bit like heaven.

2. I fall a little more in love with my children every day. Sometimes it catches me off guard...and I cry.

3. Jaxon is reading...really reading!!! It is so amazing to see your child learn to read. It makes me want to learn how to do something new...and become really good at it.

4. I have cooked dinner every single night this week.

5. I think we are becoming true Californians. I wore a sweatshirt yesterday and it was 77 degrees outside. I was cold. Oh geez.

6. I am in charge of a booth at the elementary school's Fall Festival and I am in charge of our church's Trunk or Treat. I have literally about 150 things to do, and yet here I sit...blogging. Oh geez.

7. Ella turns my day happy every time I look at her. I can't wait for her to wake up from her naps every day.

8. I love, love, love buying little girl clothes. It puts a spring in my step.

9. I miss my food blog. Must return to it. After Halloween. Fur reelz.

10. Richie brought me flowers this week. Fall flowers. Happy flowers. I love him.

Jaxon is playing soccer again this year...and believe it or not...he likes it! He made his first goal last Saturday!!! He still loves to look at the airplanes and anything else going on around him...instead of the ball...but he is improving.

I love it that he waves at me every 10 seconds during the game.

Personally, I would rather have the wave then the goal. :)

Sealing Day

On September 23rd, we had a beautiful day. That was the day we were sealed to little Miss Ella for time and all eternity. We went to the San Diego Temple (which is so beautiful), and dressed in white, we were sealed to our little girl. It was such a wonderful day. It was filled with such joy and love that my words just cannot do it any sort of justice. To be in the temple with my husband, my children, my family and friends, was the most beautiful experience.

Ella looked like a little angel. Her big blue eyes sparkled. She was so happy that day, and despite her lack of a nap, (and a tad of separation anxiety), the sealing was so perfect. Jaxon looked so handsome in his white clothes.

It was a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for his plan. I am so thrilled to be sealed to my children for eternity. They are the most amazing kids...and I fall in love with them a little more everyday. I am so grateful for a husband that leads me and guides me and supports me in all things. I am so happy.

Grandma Eva

This is my grandma.

Her name is Eva. I love that name. It sounds so...so...beautiful.

My Grandma Eva passed away yesterday.

She was 91 years old. She has 4 children, 9 grand children, and 18 great grandchildren. (If I counted correctly.)

My grandma wore pink tennis shoes. She called them "tenny runners." I love that. I hope I call my tennis shoes "tenny runners" when I am a grandma.

She drove really fast...and crazy! I remember my sister and I going to the movies with her once, and while we were driving there she said "hang on to your hats girls." We thought that was hilarious.

I remember feeling like I was going to burst while I waited for her and my grandpa to arrive at our house for a visit. If we were at school when she arrived, they would come and pick us up at school. I loved that. Then she would give us a GIANT candy bar. It made my day.

When we went to visit her in Utah, she used to work out of her home as a beautician. She had a beauty shop in the basement. She let us play in there for hours. It was our favorite thing to do when we were little.

She wore Mary-Kay make up. She wore lots of jewelry. She loved to match my grandpa.

She made the best no-bake cookies in the world.

Her house was filled with the coolest knick knacks. She had a piece of coral that I wanted so bad I could die. She had pictures of all of her family all over the house.

She had the funnest (I know...not a word) excercise bike in the world. I have never seen one like it, and I doubt I ever will. My sister and I would ride it and laugh so hard we would fall off of it.

She wrote me every week while I was growing up. Every single week.

She sent me a present on EVERY birthday. She called me on EVERY birthday.

She loved my husband and was there when I married him in the temple.

She prayed for my children to find me.

She cried when Jaxon found me and I found Jaxon.

She cried when Ella found me and I found Ella.

She loved my kids.

She cried the last time I saw her...so did I.

I loved her. I miss her.

Jaxon turned 6 last week. How can this be?!? How can he be six already?? He is so cute...he said "6 is way better then 5, mom." He had a cute little pirate party at our house, then daddy surprised him and took him to Ride Makerz (at Downtown Disney) and let him make a car. I thought he was going to die...he was so excited!

Okay, okay...I know I am behind...but I am going to catch up!

4th of July was a blast!! We started our day with the Pancake Breakfast at church. It was already so hot, but the pancakes were yummy. Then we went to parade that goes down Main Street in Corona. It was pretty cute...we had a nice time. Then we spent the day swimming at our friend Jamie's house, and ended the night watching the fireworks from her deck! It was a great day!

Kindergarten Promotion

Jaxon has his Kindergarten promotion today!! I can't believe he is done with Kindergarten!! How did this happen?? I feel like he was just born! How can he be going to first grade already?? Sniff, sniff! He looked so cute sitting up there! He got the Classical Reading award (for reading 20 Classical reading books), the Memory Challenge award (for memorizing and reciting all of his memory challenges correctly) and the Teacher's Award for "Superb Fingerspelling". We are so proud of our boy!! Congrats Jaxon...we love you so much!!

It's summer time!!! That means being outside!!! Well...here in Southern California, we are a bit spoiled and we get to be outside all year long!
But...we like to pretend that we don't have summer all year round! So, we got a new jungle gym! Rich and my brother-in-law Evan (thanks Evan!) put this little monster together last weekend. I think we made Jaxon's life with this one.

So...when we came home from church on Sunday, Ella went down for a nap. Rich and I went in the backyard to pick some veggies from the garden. I was outside for just a few minutes and I walked in, and I couldn't find Jaxon. When I walked by Ella's room...I heard him talking really softly to Ella. I slowly opened the door, and this is what I found.

HE said she was crying and she "needed a cuddle." I love this kid.

Yesterday, we FINALLY went to the Griffith Observatory! Rich has wanted to go since we moved here, 2 years ago. So...Jackie and Evan were visiting, so we all jumped in the car to see what it was all about.

It was so neat!! Jaxon really loved seeing all of the meteorites, and the planets. The view was gorgeous, too. We had a great day!

Jaxon started learning about seeds in school in March, so we decided to plant ourselves a little garden.

This was our first garden...and to tell you the truth...I didn't really think it would grow. When we lived in Albuquerque, we never had a vegetable garden. Yes...we had dreams of one, but it never really came to life. And...you can't really plant seeds in Albuquerque and expect them to grow. You need to start with plants. So, I didn't have really high hopes.

Jaxon picked out all of the things he wanted to grow. Watermelon, corn, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, squash and tomatoes.

I am happy to say...the California sunshine has proved me VERY wrong! Look at our garden!! So excited! We have been eating fresh lettuce with all of our salads and we are anxiously awaiting the rest of our veggies!

When we went to Albuquerque for Easter...we decided it was time to pierce Miss Ella's ears! She did awesome! She cried for only about 10 seconds...and hasn't made a peep about them since. And...let's face it...she looks adorable!

Before the "event". She was sleeping so sweetly...it killed me to wake her up to get them done.

From the look on my face, you can see it hurt me WAY more then it hurt her!

We had such a wonderful Easter!! We went to Albuquerque to spend Easter with our families...and to show off our little girl, of course! Ella and Jax were both such great little travelers! It was a LONG drive (12 hours!), but the kids did great awesome!!

He totally made out when it came to chocolate and money...the kid found over $15.00 between both grandma's Easter Egg hunts! He was super excited. Ella got some nice snoozes in as the egg hunts went on! I think this picture of her in the swing was the one and only time she was put down all week! She was in some one's arms every minute! ( I love that!)

San Luis Obispo

We took our first roadtrip at a family of 4!

While Rich's parents were here, we decided to follow them up the coast for a couple of days. We drove along Highway 1, which was kinda scary. It was rainy really hard, and it was kinda creepy to be driving next to a very angry ocean, while dodging falling rocks that were sliding off the hill sides! We managed to barely dodge a basketball sized rock! Eek!

Ella was such a great little traveler! She just snoozed the entire way. Jaxon was thrilled to ride with Grandma and Grandpa! He is still talking about how he got to ride in the "fun car".

We finally arrived in Pismo beach, where we stayed in "the HO-tel" (as Jaxon calls it) for a couple of days. We had a really great time. We went to Hearst Castle...which is pretty amazing. Jax and Ella were the only kids on the tour and they were both fabulous!

After Hearst Castle, we went to the beach to see the Elephat seals. They had all had their babies and the mom seals had left their pups to learn to live on their own. It was so cute to see all the babies all over the beach. We got some great pics too...so pretty up North. Rich has decided he wants to retire up there. Ya know...if we win the lottery. ;)

Rich's parents came to visit us last weekend, so we tried our best to entertain! We headed down to Carlsbad to see the flower fields. I have heard about these fields for a while, so I was so excited! We were a little bit early for the BIG BLOOM, but it was still gorgeous! Jaxon loved riding on the tractor and LOVED the peony maze. Ella stayed warm and cozy in the baby carrier. I think she loved being outside. And Carlsbad...so pretty!! It was a such a nice day!

Ella is 1 Month old already!! She is becoming super alert and is trying to smile. She loves to smile for Jaxon, but has yet to perform for mom and dad! She weighed in at 8 lbs 0 ounces and is now 21 1/2 inches! She is growing alot, but everyone stops us and says "SHE IS SOOO TINY!" She is really little! I love it.

She is still in her little newborn clothes and will be for a while.

She has the cutest little blond tufts of hair in the back that make her look like a little old man from behind! :)

She is the complete love of our lives. We all just want to smile and talk to her all day. Jaxon is completely in love. He has been such a great help...and is already an amazing big brother.

We are so very blessed.

Ok...so it was a pretty cold day...but I HAD to take my family to the beach! They live in the DESERT!! When they come to visit...they have to see the beach. It is a must.

And, it was Ella's first trip to the ocean. I think it did her heart good. It always does my heart good.

Introducing Miss Ella Rose Rich

She's here!!! She's here!!! She is finally here!!! Our little Ella Rose was born on February 9, 2011 at 8:33pm. She was 6 pounds 6 ounces and 20 inches long! (Isn't it funny how every one wants to know her stats?)

She is perfect. I love that she came into this world screaming! It means she will be strong and confident. Well...at least I think so. I know that sounded like it came from some awesome book of knowledge.

The nurse moved her head so I could take a picture of her. He looked like he man-handled her! (I wanted to kick him!)

She was 8 days early! She came a bit unexpectedtly! Danielle and I went to breakfast and we were determined to have red velvet pancakes. During pankcakes (awesome pancakes, I might add) Ella was determined to come that day! Contractions started and from there...Ella was on her way!!

Danielle was AMAZING!! I was a mess...of course. I could not stop bawling. She came out in 2 pushes!!! It was incredible. The minute I saw Miss Ella, I was in love. Simply, Madly, Deeply.

It was an amazing day. One that we will remember for the rest of our lives. There are no words...

We love you Ella Rose. You are the prettiest girl in the whole wide world. Thank you for completeing our lives.

It was a GORGEOUS day yesterday! So, of course we pretended it was Spring and did yard work. As we trimmed rose bushes, mowed lawns, and pulled weeds, Jaxon played in the mud. He must have played in this little puddle for an hour. I love that he is 5 and loves playing in the mud. I love that he is so darn cute. I love that he is so mellow. I just LOVE HIM!! He was happy as a clam...in the mud. :)

We had so much fun in Albuquerque! It was so nice to spend the holidays at home. I just wanted to share some cool pics of the bird refuge we went to with my parents and my sister and brother in law. It was about and hour and a half south of Albuquerque. If you are ever in the area...look it up and visit. The birds all come in around sunset and they said that they leave all at the same time at sunrise. I am dying to see that, too! Maybe next trip!

We headed into LA to check out the Grove Mall/Farmer's Market. It is such a pretty place at Christmas time. It was kind of strange to walk around in flip flops and look at Christmas decorations, but I think I am loving this. We had a nice day!

Jax wanted to see Santa, but the line was 4 HOURS LONG!! Really. I think he was slightly relieved...I think Santa freaks him out.

What a holiday weekend we had!!!! I think it will go down as one of the best Thanksgivings I have ever had.
First off, my WHOLE family came to California to be with me for Thanksgiving. It meant the world to me. They all drove and flew from all over to come and put the fate of the Thanksgiving dinner in MY hands. I was so nervous...but it ended up being pretty perfect.
Everyone got into town late Wednesday, except for Sarah's family who came in a day early (mee mer). We woke up CRAZY early on Thanksgiving day and made to Disneyland by 8:30am.

We had so much fun. We rode everything...ate everything...loved everything. Did I mention we had a good time?

I made these gingerbread cookies for everyone! I put their initial on it!

Marbles and the Wii

Much to his mother's dismay...Jaxon has found...the Wii. I have managed to keep it a pretty good secret for a while. Not that I hid it or anything, I just never pointed it out. We play occasionally for family nights, but let me just say that it wasn't getting a whole lot of use in our house. Until about a month ago. He found it. He loves it. His dad loves that he loves it. Therefore, I believe I have lost the war. Notice, I said the War, not the battle. I believe that the video games and I are just going have to get along. As a mother to a son...I am jacked. He loves it, and I have to deal with it!

So...this is how I deal with it! If any of you know my son, you know that he HATES doing things for himself. He wants me to do EVERYTHING for him. It is our daily argument. So, we started this...

This is our marble jar. Jaxon gets a marble every time he does something without throwing a fit. It has been a miracle. There is marble talk in our house...constantly. Why? Because for every marble he earns, he earns 1 minute of this....

It has been a good trade. Now...I usually only have to listen to between 12-19 minutes of Mario Brothers...depending on our day.

I think that makes him pretty happy, too. :)

After 4 1/2 VERY LONG YEARS...we are adopting again!!! Our baby girl is due February 17th. We couldn't be happier or more excited. Jaxon is ecstatic and is very ready to "feed and help" with our baby. Did you notice that he didn't say anything about changing diapers? We feel so incredibly blessed. Our birth mother is such an amazing woman, who we feel so honored to be chosen by. We will have an open adoption and we couldn't be more thrilled. We have had so much fun getting to know her and we can't wait for a life time of happiness! Thank you for all of the prayers said on our behalf. We love you all so much!

We spent all week getting ready for the big night!! We painted nails, made yummy food for our "spooky food" potluck, played in the rain, and played in costumes non stop!! My mom made the kids costumes. Jax went as Luke Skywalker, Olivia was Leah and Sev was Darth Vader. They had so much fun trick-or-treating. Jaxon FINALLY trick-or-treated...and actually liked it. It's about time!! Thank you mom for such a wonderful Halloween package and such AWESOME costumes.

Jax is off track until the end of November!!!! That means I don't have be bothered with that pesky school schedule that cramps my traveling schedule! :) Rich had to go to Houston all week last week, so of course i left town! Jax and I headed up to my sister's house for the week. Rich flew in for the weekend, so he didn't miss out on too much. I love being at Sarah's house. I always feel like I am home when I am there. We have the same brain...it is kind-of creepy. I love it. She always makes me laugh so hard and Jaxon has so much fun while he is with his cousins. Thanks Lumley crew for such a great week!
The day before Halloween we headed up to San Francisco. We have been there so many times and have seen so many amazing things, but we have NEVER done the Golden Gate Bridge. So, my sister indulged me and took us. It was AMAZING. So beautiful. It made me remember how small I am and what an incredible thing the mind is. The fact that something so massive and grand came from some one's brain is a beautiful thing.

Richie and I got invited to our first Black Tie event! It was at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. It was a really cool, old hotel that had a creepy feel to it! It was very Old Hollywood. We had a really nice time. I thought I would share the pics.

I pulled back the covers to get into bed last night and found this....waiting for me.

My first reaction was of course..."Jaxon!! Darn kid."
Then I started to giggle. And then I started to cry. I do that alot. How cute it is that I pull back my covers and find all of his little guys in my bed? And then I got to thinking about what a treasure it is to find his toys in my bed...and that got me thinking all about Jaxon...and how fast he is growing up.
He wants to be a Transformer somedays.
He wants to be a Dinosaur somedays.
He wants to be a Ninja Turtle somedays.

He won't be this little someday.
Someday he will be all grown up, and these toys will be gone.
Someday, I will be wishing that I would I climb into bed and find his toys waiting for me as evidence of an amazing action sequence.
So, I will cherish these little guys today...so I can remember it someday.

Jaxon asked me something yesterday that almost knocked the wind out of me. He asked me if he could...wait for it...COLOR??? My son has NEVER asked if he could color. I have begged and pleaded with him to color with me and he has never wanted to. So, in his short 5 years of life, he finally made his mother's wish come true. He colored. So...of course, I had to take a picture.

I know...I am so excited, too!!

Jaxon started soccer this weekend. He played his first game on Saturday. His team is called "The Sharks". He loves the name. I think he likes it. I can't really tell. He looked a little bit intimidated by the other kids. They are pretty aggressive little soccer players for 5 years old. Jaxon kind-of hung back, while they all battled for the ball. It was pretty funny to watch. We were so proud of him! (I think he liked the juice and snack at the end of the game best of all.)

I have not been to a drive in movie in FOREVER. Literally...I think it has been about 15 years. The last one I went to was when Rich and I were dating...pre-mission. Rich has been talking about going since we moved here, but I have been putting it off. I don't really know why I didn't jump at the chance. Jaxon loved it! He loved sitting in the car to watch a movie. We put the seats down, and made a bed out of the back. It was so cute to see him so excited.

Jeff and Brianna's Visit

Jeff and Brianna, and Ian came to visit us a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time at the beach. Then at the beach again, and at the beach again. I love that they wanted to hang out in the sand all week. The ocean makes me happy. We had a great time. We loved having them here, and Jaxon can't get enough of his new cousin, Ian.

First Day of Kindergarten

Jaxon started Kindergarten today!! It is official...he is a school kiddo now! We are on year round school in Corona, so his track started the latest (if you can believe it). He is in afternoon Kindergarten and his teacher is Mr. Young. Jaxon seemed excited about school today...or maybe it was just his WICKED Transformers lunch box. Either way, he had a smile on his face. I, on the other hand, was a mess. I followed the wise advice of my mother. I did not cry in front of Jaxon. When I left the room...all bets were off. I was bawling my eyes out. When did this happen? When did he become old enough to be in school? I finally got it together, because my amazing husband took the day off to distract me. So sweet. We actually went to a movie...together. Hey...maybe this school thing might not be so bad!!

He's 5. I cannot believe it. I am in total shock. I love this boy a little more everyday. Everyday I think I cannot love him anymore then I do, and then..WHAM...here he is again doing something more precious. He is getting so funny, too. These days he is VERY into Transformers and Star Wars. Instead of calling everyone people...he calls them HUMANS! "What arethose humans eating, mommie"? Hilarious. Father's Day

What a lucky boy my son is to have Rich as his father. The thing that I love most about Rich is his absolute adoration he has for our son. Jaxon is the only person in the world that can make Rich smile under any circumstance. I love to hear the sounds of Rich and Jaxon laughing in the living room as they play Cars. The sound of Nerf swords slapping together in the dining room has become music to my ears. The rumbling of laughter as they wrestle in EVERY room in the house makes me giggle to myself as I pass by. I am so thankful for my boys. I am thankful for my husband's willingness to work so hard for our family. I am thankful for his strong spirit and his leadership role in our family. Thank you for being such a great father. I love you.

So...as most of you know we are native Albuquerque-ians. We both grew up there, and we miss it sooo much! We try to visit as often as we can, and lately I always want to visit Pro's Ranch Market. It is such a wonderful store to find all of your Mexican food needs. Not only can you find such great things...you also get to be immersed in the music and beautiful color that surrounds you when you walk through the door. I absolutely love this store!! I started to take pictures and the security guards were on me like white on rice to stop me. Weird, right? Oh well. If you ever get to go...you have to eat the food that is prepared in their restaurant. So good.

I have been telling him FOREVER that he has sleep apnia...and low and behold, after a night at the sleep clinic...he does! So...with the help of this great machine...I slept like a baby last night. He looks pretty sexy too huh? hehehehe. I love that he loves me enough to wear this! :)

We FINALLY got the planting bug! We loaded up the car, and I say car because I am reminded by a certain husband, on a daily basis, that we no longer own our lovely truck. Well anyway...so we made several trips to Home Depot and started OUR garden. We ripped up the backyard, but it isn't finished yet. When it is, I will update. It feels good to start making this house...ours.

So...as most of you know, I LOVE to bake. I ran across these little dreams in the goddess of baked good's magazine, better known as the lovely Paula Deen's, magazine. She had them all cutesied up for Valentine's Day, but I decided to add a little Irish flare to mine. They are filled with a cream cheese filling and topped with ganashe (sp?). Holy clovers...AWESOME.

We would like to welcome our son to the wonderful world of...SLUG BUG!! Last weekend while Rich's parents were here, Rich welcomed back his long love of the slug bug game. Anxious to teach our son the joys of this game, we began to point out every VW beetle we could find. I could not believe how quick Jax caught on. Our very enthusiastic 4 year old "beat" us as he found a slug bug while screaming "SLUG BUG!!! I GOT IT!!". Then...of course the OCS kicked in. (Only Child Syndrome) kicked in when anyone else in the car got one. A quiet pout lingered...but only until the next SlugBug was spotted. I love this kid!!

What a wonderful weekend we had in San Diego!! Rich's parents came to visit last week and we were so excited to show them around!! It was Rich's dad's first trip to our new casa, so we wanted to do our best to show them a good time. Well, I must say that we didn't really plan to spend the entire weekend in San Diego, but after battling LA traffic for one day...we headed South instead. We spent one day Whale Watching...and guess what?? We SAW A WHALE! So exciting for this desert gal to see her first whale in the wild. Yes...I have been to SeaWorld, but nothing is like seeing one in the ocean. Jax was estatic. And, what an amazing bay to leave from...with the naval base being right there. I was worried that Jax would get bored...I mean it was a 4 hour tour. I came completely prepared...toys, food, books, etc. He didn't need any of it. He loved looking at all of the "jet planes", boats, submarines, birds, dolphins, sea lions, and the list goes on and on.

The next day we returned to San Diego to climb aboard the U.S.S Midway. We spend a couple of hours aboard the ship and had a great time. Great idea, Craig! All the men we of course thrilled,and it was pretty great for us ladies, too! We of course it the beach, but didn't make it in time to see the wonderful world of tide pools! Next time!

We haven't had a family picture in FOREVER!! So, this year it was the first time in a very long time that the entire family was all together. So, of course we had to capture it on film! After many reschedules due to family arrivals and departures, the day finally came. We woke up to SNOW! Not only snow on the ground, but it was a full on blizzard outside. So, we changed venues a couple of times, but finally the snow cleared out (you have to love Albuquerque weather!) and we were able to get our pictures done in Old Town. Erin Schmutz did such a beautiful job. This is such a SMALL sample of what she did, but we love them!

This is MAX!!! Richie completely surprised me with MAX for Christmas!! I have been asking for a new (smaller) dog since we had to find our girls a new home, because our yard is just too small. I thought I had lost the battle (but not the war) and I thought my dreams of being a mommie to a puppy was really far off! When we drove into Albuquerque, at 2 am, Rich brought him out to me! Everyone was in on it!! I was sooo surprised, which does not happen very often to me! I am so thrilled. He is sooo good with Jaxon and is finding Corona to be a happy place. We are so happy he is ours!

Christmas 2009

We spent the entire Christmas week in Albuquerque!! My WHOLE family came in to town and it was soooo much fun! Take 10 adults, 3 preschoolers, 3 dogs and only 2 bathrooms and what do you get?? Tons of fun! It was such a great holiday and it was so hard to come home. Not to mention that we got to spend so much time with the Rich's too! We feel so blessed to be able to see everyone as much as we have. There is nothing like Albuquerque at Christmas...I think I will always miss it. The house ready for Santa!

Mother's Morning at preschool

Today I had the sure pleasure of going to preschool with Jaxon. They had a "Mother's morning" where we made crafts and had our pictures taken together. It was so fun to do so many craft projects with Jax, so I had to post my favorite one. He made this and I got to help him assemble all of the pieces. I think it is adorable. It is made of toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, and pipe cleaner.

A Tiger in the Nativity play???

Well...I bet you didn't know there was a tiger in the nativity scene! There was...and his name was Jaxon. At Jaxon's preschool, the presented their annual nativity play. All of the kiddos got to choose what part they wanted to be and Jaxon wanted to be a tiger! There were all sorts of animals...bears, giraffes, lions, and elephants. They even had a "builder" and a "cowgirl". I thought it was so adorable! The whole event was very secret, so all of the parents were surprised. Jax got a little stage fright, but we were so proud of him for standing up there!

Oh my goodness!! I have not posted in FOREVER!!! I will try to do a quick run through!

Halloween: Jaxon insisted on being Spiderman for Halloween...even though I tried my hardest to steer him a different direction! But...he was thrilled, so that was awesome! We went to our Ward's Halloween party...and it was awesome! They did an entire haunted house and a spook ally. The kids loved it! Then, the big night came, and Jax got ready to Trick-or- Treat! We thought that this year he would be ready! Well...he didn't like it...again! He hit a couple of houses and said he was done! However...he LOVED handing out the candy to the kids that made it to our door.

Preschool: Jax has been goingt to a FANTASTIC little preschool that is just down the street from our house. He has homework every night, which he fights me on every night. But, he loves to put this pencil behind his ear while he "works"!

Haircut: My sister Sarah gave Jax and my nephew Sevrin haircuts. So handsome!

So every year when Halloween starts creeping its way into the stores, my mind begins racing with ideas for "the perfect costume" for Jaxon. Since birth, he has allowed me to choose his costume and it has been so fun! Well...this year I was convinced that I could talk my shark costume into his heart as I had done in years past. To my surprise he put he kiabosh on that idea. He expressed to me over and over again that he was going to be Spiderman...no matter what! Where did my Halloween power go?? Is it gone forever? Do little girls do this to their mommies? Anyway...we found a Spiderman costume that he LOVES. Actually, I think I will have to hide it or it will be trashed by the time the spooky night rolls around! Chceck out Spidy himself...looking in the mirror!

I can't believe my baby is four year old already! Jaxon requested a day at the beach for his big 4th birthday. He also has been asking for "a whale cake with fish" for the last 3 months! So, I tried my best. We had a great day with my sister and her kiddos and we were thrilled that Grandma and Grandpa came out to celebrate with us! Overall, I think he had a great day!

My little guy is 4!!! Can you believe it???? I literally feel like we were just bringing him home from the hospital a couple of weeks ago! I must say, I have the MOST AWESOME kid! He is the complete light of my life. He has so much joy that it is impossible not to be around him and have any look on your face except a smile. He is so sweet and is always making sure I am alright...whether I might be sad or stubbing my toe...he is always there to make me feel better. He has such a strong spirit, and I love to hear him belting out primary songs at the top of his lungs...when he thinks I can't hear him! I love his cautious attitude and his recent sass! It makes me smile! I love his independent little way, and even more, his dependent ways too! Everyday I am thankful for my son. I cherish him everyday. A Day at the Beach...again!

I have to hand it to California...the beaches are so much fun! I am not a huge fan of this state yet, but I must say that having the ability to drive to the beach every Saturday , sure is awesome! We spent yesterday at Huntington Beach where this desert girl enjoyed the surf and sand more then I knew I could. There is something about watching your kiddo become entranced with the Ocean that does my heart good. The only downfall of the day was the lack of sunscreen for Rich! Jax wouldn't let me get near his eyes with the sunscreen, so we woke up from his nap looking like a red raccoon!

A Movie in the Park

We found a movie in the park!! I have ALWAYS wanted to go to one of these, but we could nver find one that was "family-ish" so I was so excited when we found one a couple of towns over. Oh my gosh, it was so much fun! We packed our popcorn, candy and sodas along with our blankets and set out for a great night. We watched "The Muppet Movie" admist tons of families. It was a really great night.

The 4th of JULY!

The thought of spending the fourth all alone was a little bit too daunting for us, so we packed up the car and headed to San Jose to see Sarie and her fam. We spent the day at the Santa Clara Celebration where the kids played games and ate their weight in snow cones. That night we watched the fireworks from the Google parking lot. Ahhh...Silicone Valley!

La Habra Children's Museum

Jax and I have been trying to keep busy, so we find new places to go all the time. We found this great childrens museum in La Habra, which is about 25 minutes from us. Jax had so much fun playing with all of the awesome things. It is a completley "hands-on" museum, and they tell you when you enter "play with everything and make sure you touch it all!" So..we did!

As I was getting ready to go to church today, I was surprised by my nervousness that was creeping up inside of me. You have to understand that I left an AMAZING ward in Albuquerque. I left the kind of ward that made you feel like you were home when you walked in the building. The kind of ward that if someone needed help, you had people asking "why didn't I get to watch her kids?". I learned so many things from the amazing women in my ward, and I know that those lessons can never be recreated. I am so greatful to my Heavenly Father for putting all of those women in my path. Because I was so comforted every Sunday, today I was uneasy.
As I stepped out of the car, it was the same familiar scene in a somewhat familiar building. The only thing that really stood out as different was all of the beautiful flowers and grass! But, I am so thankful to our wonderful church for being able to tap into that familiarity and make you feel at home no matter where you are. Walking into the building, I was given the precious gift of peace that I have been looking for for the last couple of weeks. Yes, it is not my ward in ABQ, but I am very grateful for the kind hellos and welcomes that came so easily from its members. This new ward is VERY small and very different from what I am used to, but I am sure it will be fine. I am so thankful for the lessons and talks given today. I am so thankful that no matter where I am ,the church is an anchor for me and my family.

Disneyland!!

Well, most of you know that I am married to a 6 year old when it comes to Disneyland. So of course on our 2nd day in LA, we headed to Anaheim to meet the mouse himself. Rich was so psyched to take Jaxon...and he loved it! We got to see the Pixar parade in California Adventure...so worth it!! If you ever go, you have to check it out. We made the mistake of taking Jaxon on "The Pirates of the Carribean" ride first. It scared the crud out of him, so the rest of our visit, every ride he went on he would say "I don't like pirates...is this pirates?" Poor thing. All in all we did have a great time. Rich was so excited to use his annual pass...so I guess we will be going alot this year! So...everyone come and see us, so we can go with you too!

Well, after unpacking most of our boxes...some will never be unpacked at this apartment because there is no room for them!! Anyway...after unpacking, we hit Redondo Beach and Pier. We thought we would "dip" our feet in the water, then go get some dinner. Well, needless to say there is not such thing as just dipping Jaxon's feet in water. He was soaked! We ended up having to buy him some tacky tourist tshirt and shorts at the pier souvernier shop, so he didn't freeze. Around 7:00pm, it gets pretty cold on the beach! Well...you live and learn.

Okay...so let me catch up. We rented a moving truck and headed out with half of our stuff to Ontario, CA (right outside of LA) on Monday the 18th of May. We stayed overnight in Kingman, AZ and continued on our way on Tuesday. Jaxon, my mother in law Lavella, and I drove our car, while Rich and his brother Steve drove the moving truck. It took FOREVER to get there due to a governor being on the moving truck. We arrived to a nice apartment...that from what I can tell is in an okay neighbor hood. But, I definitely think we border a not so great neighborhood, so hopefully a house is in our near future! It is a crazy weird feeling to not know where ANYTHING is! However...I do know how to get to Disneyland! We got all moved in...a very small apartment...with WAY too much stuff. We could not have done it without Lavella and Steve. Thank you SOOO much!

Easter Sunday

Despite the rain, and the wind we had a great Easter! We were lucky enough to spend the day with all of ou family (we missed you Stacey!!) We got in our Sunday best...then started the dreaded task of Easter pictures. Not too bad this year...but always a fight. Jax was thrilled to have Olivia and Sevrin here to hunt easter eggs...he finally had a little competition. We went to church with Rich's family...had an amazing lunch (as always!), did a couple of Easter egg hunts and then had a great dinner. What a wonderful day. I was so happy to be with all of my loved ones. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family.
